The Mandell Park prairie garden is now a little more than a year old and has been a great source of seeds and seedlings this winter. These pictures were taken February 5th.
Coreopsis tinctoria has been blooming nicely all winter and there are seedlings everywhere. All these plants originated from just three plants installed last spring. The Houston Audubon Natives Nursery has been busy potting many seedlings.
This picture shows numerous Liatris pycnostachya and rattlesnake master seedlings along with some Coreopsis tinctoria and lyreleaf sage and Rudbeckia hirta.
The original dozen or so swamp sunflowers are now a very thick patch and busting at the seams.
