Deer Park Prairie: Update, Help Needed TOMORROW (9/5), Workday (9/9)

Hi all,
The city of Deer Park recently sent out a letter to all nearby residents of Deer Park Prairie that the Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing at City Hall, 7:10 pm, 9/14/15, on the request of Native Prairies Association of Texas for a specific use permit so that education programs for local school district could be held on the prairie. We need help tomorrow morning (Sat, 9/4) to spruce up the property (especially the part of the back yard visible from the street) in case local residents drive by to look at the place, after receiving the letter. We would be joining Bayou Land Conservancy’s new educator Savannah Salazar and her family. I know that it is labor day weekend and extremely short notice, but if you can come to help, it will be really appreciated!
Time: Savannah & her family plan to be there at 7:30 am. I plan to be there ~8:30 am. Stay as long as you want; it will probably just take the morning or part of the morning.

Help with the sprucing a bit and then take a look at our prairie demonstration bed and/or take a walk on the prairie and look at the new almost finished viewing stand (not to get on it – not yet completed).

If you go out onto the prairie, please remember to use insect spray (still tick season), wear closed-toe shoes, long pants.

Regular Workday, Wednesday, 9/9/15 9:00 am – noon. Workday contact: Glenn Merkord 936-827-7978

Thanks and hope to see some of you tomorrow,
